Alberta Randomness

I’ve been neglecting my blog, my twitter, and pictures. Well I’ve been taking a lot of pictures, just finding the time to through them, and edit the select few that are worth keeping, is a problem. I can’t complain though, being busy at work, and having fun with the family at home makes up for the lack of editing time. So here are some pictures from a few weeks ago, that finally got to the front of the editing que, earned their spot on this blog. Enjoy!

Very nice nostalgic pictures, I am a sucker for duo tones so the first one and the old pump are my favorites. I am waiting for more!

Nice collection, much prefer these as they are more about you and your life than the model stuff. Don’t get me wrong they were good but these tell me more about you and what catches your eye, where you live etc

Very nice, Maciek. I must admit that I am in agreement with Chris – I prefer these types of photos to the models as well. Your work with the models has been stunning, no doubt, but these are, for me, more pleasing and beautiful and thought-provoking. As always, you are amazing. :)

Interesting to know what people think….. I wonder if I shot nudes I would get the same comments :)
My wife agrees with both Tobi and Chris, I will have to think of incorporating models into these photos. I find that a “human factor” in a photo makes a big difference in how it is perceived. Need to come up with some ideas now…..

Ah but are models human??? I mean by that are they representative of real life?

Take the old door above. Would it be enhanced by a beautiful perfect model, or by the craggy face of the farmer who had opened and shut that door for the last 50 years ….

Real life human incorporation in a photo I agree, sticking a bit of beauty in for the sake of it (not that you said that is what you were going to do!) doesn’t add to the story of the photo IMO

I agree completely, and you nailed it perfectly. Inserting a perfect beautiful model just for the sake of it would not make any sense at all. Having an old farmer or to make it even more interesting, somehow hanging a “dead” bride in full wedding dress on the hook beside the door. Humans are really interesting creatures, and many times can really enhance the photo. Shooting models is great fun, and great practice for me, specially in the controlled environment. So I will continue with the model practice sessions, and try harder to create/add more meaning into them.

Mac- your compositions continue to rock. the questioning looks from the 3 cows are great. i love the frame within the frame of the last one.

DustinJuly 9, 2009 - 9:45 am

Great work! My favorites are the first and last ones. As Darren mentioned, the frame-within-the-frame of the last one is really eye-catching, while the first one really speaks of Alberta.
